51 S/W Plover 12 Pied Stilt – disappointingly almost all water is gone, so a big decrease since last visit on 16/11 when 129 Pied Stilt, 2 SIPO, 84 S/W Plover present. Amberley Swamp, several kms north of Amberley in North Canterbury (viewable from the west side of S H/W and accessed along Stanton Road) is full of water again and supporting good numbers of birds – including a Black Stilt.
